As we celebrate 40 years of service, we honour our past while continuing to build a stronger, more connected IICU for the future.

Over the past months, I’ve had the pleasure of attending some incredible events with our members, from the lively Backyard Lime to our informative Financial and Retirement Planning Webinar, where members gained valuable insights from CUNA Caribbean.

These events showcase not only the vibrancy of our community but also our commitment to member engagement and education.

In March, I proudly represented our IICU and Trinidad & Tobago as the sole national participant at the CaribDE Leadership Development Session -one of the Caribbean’s most respected programmes for Credit Union professionals. This experience provided invaluable insights into governance, leadership, strategic thinking and the evolving co-operative landscape.

This recognition reflects not only my personal commitment to professional excellence, but also the strength, credibility and growing influence of our IICU within the regional Credit Union community.

Our Annual Backyard Lime, “Fab 40 – An All White Experience,” brought the energy and vibrancy of Carnival to life as we celebrated 40 years of service. Members turned out in all-white, enjoying a night filled with music, dancing and celebration.

The festivities featured a high-energy performance from Soca Trainer and the cultural flair of Moko Jumbies, creating an unforgettable atmosphere. This lime was more than just a party – it was a celebration of community, culture, and the journey of IICU over four decades.

Our Financial and Retirement Planning Webinar brought valuable insights straight to our members with expert guidance from CUNA Caribbean’s Rhea Mc Comie and Lisette Maxime-Hernandez. Attendees explored key strategies for saving, planning for the future, and making informed financial decisions in today’s dynamic environment.

The session was interactive and engaging, and we were excited to host a giveaway during the webinar. Congratulations to Lauren Headley-Tribuce, who won a special prize for participating! The event highlighted IICU’s commitment to equipping our members with the tools and knowledge to secure their financial well-being.

We are especially excited about the Youth Ambassador Mentorship (YAM) Programme, as we invest in developing our future leaders.
